A 19km long slow distance that was a “light” week for me.

The nation’s 57th Merdeka (Malaysian Independence Day) fell on a Sunday this 31st August, which meant it was a long weekend with Monday being declared a public holiday in lieu. A few of my friends had already decided to do our long run in Putrajaya so that’s exactly what we did. Nan and Bett started earlier at 5am because they wanted to cover 30km; they ran 11km first and then joined us at 7:30am in our 19km run.
We took some nice pictures around the quiet administrative capital, and since it has so many federal buildings you would expect to see so many giant Jalur Gemilang (our name for the Malaysian flag – Glorious Stripes, if you will) adorning them.
Here are some of the pictures that we captured that day. I find that the occasional pit stops for photos really is a quick much-welcomed refresher to break the monotony during a long run.

That last picture above is a hoot really – KZ insisted that the three of us take it to compare it with a previously shot photo from a long run we did together last February – just to see if we had changed much physically.

Do you notice any difference? 🙂
I was getting a bit of teasing by my mostly male runner friends (who did not join us) on social media for declaring this 19km a “light” run. Honestly, if you compare it with a 30km run, it totally is!
