Who am I?

Hi, I’m Fairy! I am a Malaysian residing in Sydney, Australia and I initially started this website in 2011 as a running blog, but now I’ve decided to make it more all-encompassing and write about all my fitness adventures!

How did I start becoming active?

After I spent most of 2010 losing weight and getting back into shape, I entered my first 5km run in April 2011. Since then I’ve not stopped and have made a significant lifestyle change to regularly go to the gym, run, Zumba, swim, whatever – just as long as I am sweating and having fun!

Why this blog?

I initially set up this blog to chronicle and share my running experiences with non-runner friends who are intrigued and to exchange stories with runner friends for whom I have great respect.

As time went on, I became interested in other types of fitness activities and even taught Zumba classes for a little while! Nowadays I’m into swimming and open water swimming.

Hi! I am Fairy from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia - currently residing in Sydney, Australia. This blog contains write-ups on my fitness adventures, whether it's running, swimming, hiking, Zumba, whatever! If I sweat, I write! As a young adult in my twenties, I led a relatively sedentary lifestyle before I had an awakening in 2011. I was overweight by age 30 and finally decided to turn my life around, so I started to reclaim my health back by losing 20 percent of my then body weight by playing dance and fitness video games!     Enjoyed reading your blog. I’m still a newbie – considering I’ve had years of love/hate relationship w running. But this year, I’ve set up #Mission2013 – to run as many 5K in 2013. It’s October now and I’ve done 5 races so far 🙂 Another coming up in November and intend to end #Mission2013 w a bang – my first 10K w SCM.

    I’ll be back to read up your posts cos as a former USJ resident, I’d love to find out more about the places you run back in MY. Who knows, I might just give you a buzz for a quick run when I’m there next time 😉

    What a pleasant surprise running (?) into your blog.. I have been looking up blogs by women runners and mostly came up with blogs by non-Malaysians. I am pleased that there we have running blogs by our very own lady runners.

    I started running only last year and took part in two races.. It was more of run/walk. I loved what I got myself into. Unfortunately due to female health issues, this whole year I have not been able to continue until now that is.

    I have recovered (for now) and started again a run/walk programme. I look forward to reading more of your posts, who knows I may find something that is relevant to me.

    1. Hello Dorah, thanks so much for writing in! There are many Malaysian female runners who blog about their running too, I have listed some of them in my “Links” section if you care to browse. Some are written in Malay, however just as informative and entertaining.

      I am glad to hear that you are recovering from your ailment. Running is indeed an addictive sport and even more so when you have so many friends who are in it. It’s a great way to make new ones too, which I think is definitely one of the reasons why I continue doing it.
